DIG’s approach to urban health is simple: by focusing on some of the pillars of good health – clean water, reliable sanitation, and solid waste / ocean plastics management – we can improve the health status of entire communities. We work with communities and municipalities to improve WASH infrastructure and basic service delivery (see our WASH portfolio) and at the national level to bring about legislation that reduces land and ocean pollution.
Relevant examples of DIG’s Urban Health work include the Municipal Waste Recycling Program, SUWASA Kenya I & II, and Collaborative Support for Health (Liberia).
