Brief
Description:
The
Development Innovations Group, a Maryland-based firm, is seeking a specialist
to serve as a Communications Consultant with a core focus on graphics design,
and brochure/document layout. The position focuses on supporting the
development of the organization’s communications materials. Specific tasks
include helping refine the organization’s visual communications strategy, and
helping to capture program results and lessons learned and sharing that
information with stakeholders through the firm’s website, social media,
brochures, and other communication documents. The consulting position will
favor applicants who can demonstrate an understanding of and experience
applying USAID (or similar donor) branding and marking rules, and who have
background in international development.
Responsibilities:
The Communications Consultant will be responsible for advising and supporting
senior staff members as they prepare communications strategies, programmatic
one pagers, reports requiring graphical elements, graphic inputs for the
company’s website, and other outreach materials.
Qualifications:

Advanced
degree (minimum of a Bachelors’ degree required) in graphic design and/or,
related field. Strong writing, messaging, and editing skills.
Experience in preparing communication materials in the field of
international development or related topics (economics, environmental
science, health, etc…).

Extensive
experience and portfolio using various graphics communications software
(Tableau, Photoshop, Page Maker, Visio, etc…).

At
least five years of experience in communications, with experience working
in international development, preferably on USAID (or similar donor)
projects.

Excellent
interpersonal skills, and strong ability to communicate with development practitioners
in writing and verbally.

Knowledge
of French a plus.
