DIG Awarded USAID-Funded WASH Coordination Project in Nigeria
Tuesday, May 9, 2017

USAID has awarded DIG a contract to implement the two-year Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Coordination Project (WCP) in Bauchi and Kaduna States of Nigeria, funded under the Making Cities Work contracting mechanism. The primary objective of this project is to achieve the dual benefits of improved health and well-being for Nigerians through increased and more financially-sustainable access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services and to build the confidence of the public in its government’s ability to deliver basic services.

Improving governance is fundamental to improving WASH service delivery. Therefore, DIG is working directly with civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, water boards, and state governments, helping to ensure transparent and accountable governance as well as the inclusive and equitable delivery of WASH services. The project expects to build on progress already achieved in the WASH sector in Nigeria, expanding USAID’s strategic role and accelerating reforms specifically in Bauchi and Kaduna States.
