Call for Grant Applications

Grants Program in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam to Reduce Plastics Pollution Entering the Oceans

The Municipal Waste Recycling Program is a four-year, USAID-funded initiative to address the global problem of marine plastics pollution. The Program provides grants and technical assistance to support promising municipal waste recycling efforts in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam, which, currently, are experiencing problems with plastics waste entering the marine environment.

The Municipal Waste Recycling Program will award grants of up to USD 250,000 to support innovative and/or scalable solid waste management and recycling activities that promote social inclusion, generate jobs and economic growth, and strengthen climate resilience.

The Program is open to non-governmental organizations (including for-profits) registered in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam as well as the United States.

Concept notes or grant applications are being accepted on a rolling basis. Applications will be reviewed quarterly. The first deadline for submission is no later than March 31, 2017. To obtain grant application materials, please visit: http://urban-links.org/resources/mwrp/.

The Municipal Waste Recycling Program will also be holding workshops for organizations with an interest in reducing marine plastics pollution in Colombo, Sri Lanka from February 9-10, 2017 and in Manila, the Philippines from February 13-14, 2017. We will soon announce dates for an upcoming workshop in Vietnam.
